Whiskey or Whisky is a distilled beverage produced by distillation of grains, regularly different varieties are used including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Nevertheless, the product differs widely depending on the base product used, alcoholic content, and quality. The typical unifying characteristics of the different classes and types are the fermentation of grains, distillation, and aging in wooden barrels.

Pot Still

The simplest standard distillation equipment is commonly known as a pot still, consisting of a single heated chamber and a vessel. Pot stills operate on a batch distillation. Traditionally constructed from copper, pot stills are made in a range of shapes and sizes depending on the quantity and style of spirit desired. Nowadays by law, cognac, Irish and Scotch malt whiskies, and single pot still whiskey must be distilled using a pot still.

Beer is brewed in all over the world and there is something for each palate and every occasion. It made just with four main ingredients which are water, malt, hops and yeast. The result of this alchemy might be a mix between the mystical, the culture, the process, the location, the ingredient properties and so on. But, how we differentiate beers?

Tanqueray Gin was initially distilled in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray in the Bloomsbury district of London. Charles was shipping his gin to colonies around the British Empire, where many plantation owners and troops had developed a taste for gin and tonic. When Charles died in 1868, his son Charles Waugh Tanqueray inherited the distillery, which continued to operate until it was severely damaged during World War II.

India Dormida IPA – Cervecería Central (Panama)

India Dormida (The Sleeping Indian Girl) is an IPA craft beer named after a group of mountains located in Anton Valley, Panama, which is a perfect place for nature lovers and those looking to enjoy an easy adventure. Great hike with great views, many beautiful butterflies, birds and an excellent panorama of the valley at the top of the mountain. It takes around 3 hours hike and 800 masl.

Gin

Gin is a grain spirit flavoured with juniper berries and other botanicals (herbs and spices) nevertheless, gins differs widely depending on the recipe used. The name gin comes from the older English word genever, related to the French word genièvre and the Dutch word jenever. All ultimately derive from juniperus, the Latin for juniper, which is an evergreen shrub or small tree that bears berrylike cones, widely distributed throughout Eurasia and North America.

Glossary and abbreviations

ABV is the abbreviation for “Alcohol by volume”. Actually, it is the measurement of the percentage volume of alcohol by volume of the beverages (beer, liquor, wine, spirits…). Alcohol by volume (abbreviated as ABV, abv, or alc./vol.) is a standard measure, it is defined as the number of millilitres (ml) of pure ethanol present in 100 ml of solution at 20 °C (68 °F).

Distilled Beverage

The liquid resulting from the fermentation (Wash) are limited to a maximum alcohol content of about 20% ABV, as most yeasts cannot reproduce when the concentration of alcohol is above this level; as a consequence, fermentation ceases at that point. If we boil the wash, then the alcohol on it evaporates first due to its boiling point (78.3°C/172.94°F) and the water is leaving behind.

Guinness is an Irish beer originated in the brewery of Arthur Guinness (1725–1803) at St. James’s Gate, Dublin. Guinness is one of the most successful beer brands worldwide.

The first venture of Arthur Guinness was a small factory for ale brewing in north-east of Ireland. Later Arthur decided to move to Dublin to open a brewery in 1759, in the south-west of the city, he found an old brewery, named St. James’s Gate Brewery, which he agreed to lease for just £45 a year for 9000 years.
